They have recently expanded to include a cafe, herbal dispenserary, catering and all the best organic foods - fruits, vegetables, breads, meats and thousands of grocery products.   Aluminium Group 1958
Aluminium Group of chairs that Charles and Ray Eames designed for Herman Miller are certainly a design classic. They have stood the test of time and continue to be a favourite in offices and homes. I recently order the white mesh option for a client and they look very cool and amazingly so contemporary!

Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre 2000. Glenn Murcutt
Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre 2000. Glenn Murcutt Australia’s only Pritzker–prize winning architect is Glenn Murcutt, and we reckon this is his best building! If that’s not reason enough to put it on top of the list it also happens to be a master-class in off-form concrete, local hard-woods and good old corrugated iron and gives you a peek into his full oeuvre. A few hours out of town but well worth the trip. Contact Sonya to visit. (photo Bundanon Trust)

Aurora Place office and apartment buildings 2000, Renzo Piano Building Workshop
Aurora Place office Aurora Place office and apartment buildings 2000 Renzo Piano Building Workshop This is Piano’s homage to Utzon’s ‘grand old lady down the road’, a subversive, elegantly slender and feminine take on corporate space. It’s counterpoint, the tall, dark and handsome Governor Phillip Tower right across the road is also worth a look. See our book reviews this month for a new release on Renzo Piano.

  Australia Square. 1961 Harry Seidler
Australia Square. 1961 Harry Seidler Harry Seidler’s best building and a wonderfully bold and elegant sign in the early 1960’s that modernism had duly arrived in Sydney. Gorgeous Pier Luigi Nervi structure in the foyer ceilings, terrific Calder stabile out the front and a very smart revolving restaurant by BKH on level 47. (Photo: Harry Seidler and Assoc.)

  Avalons Organics
Avalons Organics Avalons Organics was one of the very first organic shops to open. Beautiful, artistic banquet of luscious fruits and vegetables. The daily layout is so attractively laid out, you get hungry the moment you walk in. Tastings are a common feature, as is the offering of unique and exotic varieties for you to buy and try for the very first time. Organic cheeses, olive oils, meats, drinks, nuts etc, make it almost unnecessary to shop anywhere else. The owner and staff are knowledgeable, delightful, and friendly without being obtrusive. Great produce and atmosphere that makes organic more than just fuel for the body.

  Awaroa Lodge
Awaroa Lodge My boyfriend decided to surprise me with a secret trip to Awaroa Lodge. On arrival we were greeted by really friendly staff and I was so taken by the beauty of the surroundings. We took a long sunrise walk around Abel Tasman Track and that’s where he proposed. Awaroa Lodge will always have a special place in my heart.

Ball Chair - Eero Aarnio 1968
The Adelta 'Ball Chair' has made a resurgence of late in the hanging clear acrylic version. But I love the the standing version with padded interior. It's so retro, I can just imagine some glamour from the 70's curling up in there and 'chilling out'.

Bondi Icebergs Bondi Icebergs is probably Sydney's most famous pool - it's best know for the 'crazy' winter swimming (which I haven't actually been brave enough to try) The Icebergs has been around since 1929 with locals taking advantage of the panoramic Bondi Beach views.   Byron Bay, NSW
Byron Bay, NSW I always wondered why there was so much hype about Byron Bay, until I went there last summer and discovered how gorgeous the place really is. I was mostly amazed by its stunning beaches and the laid back atmosphere. What more could you ask for than lazing on the beach, relaxing and having a great time with your girlfriends?

  Cafe on Kohi
Cafe on Kohi Each morning I walk or drive to either of my 2 locals – Café on Kohi, or Tower Bakery. Café on Kohi is in Kohimarama on the Auckland waterfront, & has an iconic setting overlooking Rangitoto Island, pohutukawa trees, and the Auckland Harbour. What I love about both these cafes is the ambience, the personality of the owners, & their clients.

  Gould's Book Arcade
Gould's Book Arcade Goulds in Newtown is not for the faint hearted, but a magnificent place to spend a long weekend afternoon. Is there a system to locating the books on the shelves, maybe...but I have not worked it out yet. However, everything you could want is located somewhere on those shelves. The books are so inexpensive, that every time I visit, I leave knowing that the month ahead will take me to amazing literary places. This is only for those who love literature, if I am after glossy picture magazines, or latest new releases, I always make it to Berkelows in Paddington or Kornikunya in the city.
